Hydroponics Growing

Hydroponics growing is the crop production using natural soil less growing medium.

Coco peat is used for a wide range of hydroponics crop production all over the world. Following are some of the crops and plants use this method tomato, cucumber, egg plant, zucchini, strawberry, melons, carnation, rose etc.

Hydroponics crop production using Coco peat has lot of advantages over the other traditional soil media

  • Fully environment friendly growing medium and no harmful impact on the environment.
  • Excellent quality and high yield vegetable and cut flower crops
  • Since Coco peat has high water holding capacity, it provides a buffer in high temperatures.
  • By adding some organic compounds to Coco peat , root growth can be speed up and also it offer some natural resistance to plant disease.

Use of Coco-peat grow bags in Hydroponic growing

It is necessary to have reliable supply of good quality water for successful crop production.

Grow Bags can be laid out on a flat surface or with a light angle. Any drainage water should not allowed to be entered into the Grow bags and also the Grow bag must not contact with the external soil media.

Cut the holes in the plastic wrap to required size to plants to be planted. Size of the holes should be minimized to reduce the evaporation. Spacing between holes will differ according to the type of plant. Suitable nutrient solutions can also be added as recommended. Run off from the bags should be measured for pH and EC and recorded daily to optimize crop potential.

Grow Bags can be reused several times for short term hardy crops provided that they have been free of diseases.
